Ever wondered why most women love shopping so much? What makes them keep going back for more every time? Is it an addiction? For me I could say it’s a serious hobby.
To me shopping for clothing is not a waste of time and money, it’s a passion… a hobby. I find it therapeutic in that it helps me de-stress and always manages to uplift my mood… perhaps one could even compare it to someone that enjoys hunting or fishing, as a hobby.
To help explain what I mean when I say shopping is similar to hunting or fishing, I have come up with a three stage process.
- The preparation
- The hunt
- Enjoying the spoils of a successful hunt
Starting with preparation, this is when I do my research about what it is that I’m looking for; where can I find it and what sort of price should I be looking at paying for it, among other things. Similar to people who enjoy hunting or fishing as a hobby, they need to prepare themselves in order to get to know the type of prey they’re going after… They need to have extensive knowledge about their prey and its environment, among other things. Preparation is key in order to guarantee success!
After preparation then comes what I like to call the ‘hunt’. This is the most exciting part because that’s when you actually go out in the field and hunt down your prey, in my case let’s say, an outfit… for guys that could be the beast or fish they’re after. During this time I am filled with adrenaline! Anticipation and exhilaration is at its max! My eyes on the look out for any easy pickings- this means sales, discounts, promotion codes etc. During the hunt nothing can stop me, not even an empty stomach! Lol stopping for food slows you down ! Once I eat I always feel lazy and just want to go home and sleep… So I put it off for as long as I can if I know I’m doing serious shopping.
Once my eyes are locked on my prize, the ‘take down’ swiftly follows. All that’s lefts now for me to do is to go home and enjoy my spoils! The first thing that I do when I get home is to try on the clothes again… (Because I don’t fully trust those mirrors at the shops, at times they are made to make us look very good in the clothing while you’re still in the shop, but when you get home….mmmmmhh ! LOL … If I still love them then all I have left to do is to find somewhere to wear the outfit if I don’t already have somewhere to go 😀
This is not to say that I go shopping just for the sack of shopping, once I buy something, I like to make sure that I will get the most use out of it. For example, I recently bought a top from M&T Boutique (a very cute boutique btw! Absolutely love the level of service that I receive every time I go there!). I drafted some outfit ideas before I actually purschaed it. I thought I’d share some of those outfit ideas with y’all 😀
